A Salute to Volunteers
If we were on the Love Boat. And the staff were the crew. We would not be able to stay afloat. If it were not for people like you! The captain and her first mates Will always chart the course. But it’s the volunteers in the engine room Who are the real power source. The sails will be hoisted The course has been drawn It is the volunteers who fill the sails. Who we depend upon. You are the people Who give your time and soul. To the seniors in our community. Who really appreciate your role. It may be a drive to an appointment. or just keeping in touch but it is you – the Volunteer. Who contributes to our lives that means so much! A warm smile, a hearty laugh, showing your caring way. It is you who we look forward to, to brighten up our day! From Board members, that help steer the ship each day. To the volunteers who are eager to help the seniors on their way. The work that you do, is such a precious gift. It is you! The volunteers whole give our spirits a great lift. Like a pebble thrown into a pond. Your enthusiasm, like a ripple, will start A wave of friendliness. That reaches everyone’s heart. The time that you give and the compassion that you show. Always touches our lives in ways which you may not know. So, I tip my hat. My heart you have won. I realize that the world is a better place. For the work that you have done.

The Seniors' Services Directory
The Seniors' Services Directory contains over 500 listings of seniors’ services laid out in a user-friendly format and is the ‘go-to’ guide for seniors, their families, and healthcare professionals working with seniors.
Volunteers provide social support, encouragement and connections to other community resources. Return to Health volunteers receive specialized training in intercultural, gender awareness and seniors' issues, stressing good communication skills and familiarity with the aging process.
Specially trained Volunteer Referral Agents with expertise in seniors' issues and knowledge of local services provide a referral to all of the non-medical emergency resources available in the region and support for everyday problems.
The Knitters are taking a bit of a break this fall (2024)
Volunteer knitters meet once a month to share patterns, sort through yarn and bring in items newly made. Sweaters, mittens, hats and blankets are catalogued and stored until Christmas, when the group presents the gift to the children at the Cridge Centre for the Family.
Our “Seniors Link Phone Line” is open Monday to Thursday 9 am – 4 pm where
Charlotte, Di, Janice, Jan or Kirk will return your calls promptly!
